I really love making taking photos. That is no understatement.
I’m not a professional, and my camera of choice tends to be my phone and Lightroom. I love creating and transforming myself into various characters and creating magical worlds.
I’m rather obsessed with cottage goth at the moment, an off-shoot of the cottage core trend that is sweeping across Instagram, TikTok, and Tumblr.
After putting up space floral wallpaper this weekend, I decided this would be a perfect time to set up a mini shoot. True to my own aesthetic, I decided to a Space Witch Cottage Goth theme and here are the results:
The set itself is made up mostly of items I have around the house or things I got from the dollar store. Much of it is used for costumes or extra decor. The actual set is only about a 4 or 5ft section of my office wall, packed with items to make it look fuller.
Here are the elements are also easily found at your local dollar store or on Amazon along with my office furniture
The furniture in my office is generally also from Ikea or Amazon, and is relatively inexpensive.
My Kallax Shelf is second hand. I painted it and put a scrap piece of faux fur fabric over it.
My half-moon ottoman functions as a storage, and I got it off Amazon for about $130 USD.
My fake monstera and the planter were also purchased of Amazon for about $80. I painted the plastic planter gold to match my decor. I went with artificial plants because most house plants are very toxic cats, and my cats will eat anything.
I laid the boxwood panels on the floor and scattered vines across, making sure to drape along some of my furniture. I also stuck the stems of the Dollar Tree flowers into my ottoman storage to simulate a “growing from within” … even though, I know wisteria grow on trees.
All of these photos were shot using my Samsung Note 10 Plus with both natural light from my window, and one light panel off to the side to as a fill light.
I used Lightroom and the Meitu App to edit on my phone and iPad to achieve the overall aesthetic.
